Nine is Fine at INBA Spring Convention
TV-10 students won seven awards and two scholarships at the Illinois News Broadcasters Association Spring Convention in Peoria.
First Place Outstanding TV News Reporting: Aaron Eades
First Place Outstanding TV Sports Program: Vicky Cronin, Lindsey Harrison, Zack Howard, Mike O’Brien, Nathan Swenson
Second Place Outstanding TV Newscast: Aaron Eades, Lindsey Harrison, Demiries Mendez, Tim Van Duyne, Jeff Hager, Cody Bergquist, Emily Stopka
Third Place Oustanding Videography: Michele Maslanka and Alicia Ogierman (tie)
Third Place Outstanding TV Sports Reporting: Lindsey Harrison and Chris Highland (tie)
Senior Chris Newman was awarded a Scholarship in memory of Bob Murray. The longtime Springfield-area broadcaster died in February after a brief illness. His daughters and wife were there to help award the scholarship.
2013 graduate Christa Shavers was awarded a Scholarship in memory of Mary McAndrew. Christa is in the PAR graduate program at University of Illinois-Springfield and is completing an internship at WICS-TV in Springfield, where she hopes to be hired after graduation.
