Illinois State University is home to many Registered Student Organizations. One of these includes the Black Student Union, who is celebrating Black Student Union Week. The BSU has hosted events all week, including an AAVE spelling bee. The organization operates and hosts their events in the Multicultural Center on campus. They also host many informative events like study tables, and a destressing event called “Donut Stress”. They do community service events and the month of October they will be focusing on breast cancer awareness in the African American community and in men called “Pink Out”. President Aniyah Weddington says “We like to say that we are an organization by us for us”. More information on the organization and their events can be found on events.illinoisstate.edu.
