ISU engineering technology students connect with employers at career fair
NORMAL, Ill. – Illinois State University’s expanding engineering technology program is helping students make career connections in a highly competitive field.
Career Services recently hosted a career fair where engineering technology students met with companies seeking new talent. Recruiters encouraged students to ask questions, explore job expectations, and learn what skills are in demand.
“There is innovation everywhere, so you need engineers to tackle problems and find efficient solutions,” one representative said.
Businesses in attendance included Glass Solutions, the Illinois Department of Transportation, and Genesis Systems Group. Many are preparing to hire for upcoming projects.
Glass Solutions HR director Shari Faye said the company is growing quickly. “We are moving into a bigger manufacturing space, so we are going to need more project engineers,” she said.
Students say events like this help them navigate a challenging career path.
“It is so competitive right now,” said engineering technology major Oscar Zoltowski. “These experiences are important because you get to learn about the company and make connections.”
ISU’s School of Engineering is still new to campus, with its first graduating class expected in 2028. Students are encouraged to follow Career Services for upcoming events, including the next fair on Jan. 21, 2026.
