Bright colors music and tradition filled the room as the Bangladesh Student Association welcomed family and friends to celebrate the Bengali New Year.
“The Halkhata is a Blangladesh tradition … that refromed and encouraged the tradition of the Bengali calender. The shop owners closed the old ledgers and they opened new ledgers for the new year. They invite customers to have sweets an pay off their old debts,” Kamrul Islam said.
It was a reminder that the new year isn’t just about new beginnings, but about honoring those who make beginnings possible.
