Emergency Test

Illinois State University sent out an emergency test report this morning.

These reports are sent out by the university’s Emergency Management Department to ensure the system works and people are aware of it.

Operations Manager Dan Simon discussed the magnitude of these alerts.

“We have a hopefully proliferation of different places across campus,” he said, “so it’s hard to miss if there’s an emergency.”

Alerts are sent out via text message, email and social media.

ISU student Tyree Callahan says these tests are important for both new and returning students.

“They need to know what’s happening on campus,” he said, “and not even just new students, people who’ve been here.”

If students did not receive the alert, they should make sure their phone number is correct in their Illinois State profile.

They need to know what’s going on on campus, and not even just new students, people who’ve been here. It’s open campus, so you never know what can happen.
