This season has had its ups and downs, but the Redbirds recently built momentum with a two-game winning streak heading into their home finale. Matters said the team’s focus has been on improving at the right time of year.
“I think everyone always talks about how you want to peak in November,” Matters said. “We’re trying to gain momentum and we’re trying to gain good vibes.”
The Redbirds’ strong finish has been led in part by their senior group, who will play their final home match together inside CEFCU Arena. Matters said the team’s leadership and energy have helped create a positive environment both on and off the court.
Illinois State looks to carry that energy into the final stretch of the season as they prepare for conference play.
