Sessions took place in the State Farm Hall of Business, where students sharpened their skills in broadcast, print, and social media journalism, as well as yearbook design.
The highlight of the day came at noon in the Brown Ballroom, where NBC5 Chicago political editor and DePaul University professor Carol Marin delivered the keynote address.
Organizer said the goal of the conference was to motivate students to keep pursuing their passion for storytelling. Keith Carlson an IJEA board member said hosting the vent on a college campus gives students exposure to higher-level journalism resources.
More than 225 students were in attendance, the IJEA continues to offer a space where the next generation can connect, learn, and grow.
