Illinois State University’s President has extended students’ Spring Break and established a three-week online instruction period after that, in an effort to stop the spread of the Coronavirus.
In an e-mail sent late Wednesday, President Larry Dietz said ISU faculty should use the week of March 16 to prepare for the change. Then online instruction will start March 23 and continue through at least April 10.
Dietz wrote: “I made these difficult decisions with all current COVID-19 information available from the World Health Organization and the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), as well as state and local health officials. I further consulted with the many Illinois State staff members who have formed a steering team and have worked literally around the clock to respond to the COVID-19 outbreak.”
Several other public and private universities around the country have taken steps recently to minimize personal contact and exposure to CO-VID19.
