Illinois State University’s Career Services hosted a networking event on Thursday, giving health and public service majors a chance to meet face-to-face with local organizations and explore future career opportunities.
The event, held in the Prairie Room at the Bone Student Center, connected students with potential employers from across Central Illinois, including Carle Health and the Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS).
Career Services Advisor Nick Radcliff said the goal was to provide students with a real-world networking experience.
“We’re really hoping out of this event that students can have a great opportunity to talk to employers,” Radcliff said. “They also get a chance to practice networking skills and find part-time jobs, internships, or even full-time opportunities.”
Students said the fair was both helpful and engaging. Public health major Marissa Wadsworth appreciated the accessibility of the event and the resources provided.
“It was great meeting people. Everyone’s really nice and super informative,” Wadsworth said. “I like how they had information packets and brochures to hand out. It’s a great way to remember everything we talked about without having to take notes.”
Radcliff added that Career Services organizes about six or seven of these fairs each semester, rotating between different departments and majors.
The next event, scheduled for November 20, will be open to engineering technology students.
Students can learn more about upcoming opportunities by visiting Career Services’ event calendar or following ISU Career Services on social media.
