The government of Normal discussed the number of pets allowed in homes during their council meeting on Monday. Some residents brought up concerns about the noise and sanitation issues that could arise by allowing three pets in a single home. Defenders of the change argued that those issues could happen regardless of its one or three pets allowed and that there can still be issues with owners of just one animal. A key argument mentioned by Normal resident Anne Tabor says “Theres less dogs in kill shelters, in shelters around the world and more dogs in their forever homes”. The council decided to raise the pet limit to three and the people of Normal can expect to see this change withing the next few weeks.
