The Bloomington-based maintenance shop for the National Guard reopened its doors earlier this month.

The shop works on vehicles for the nine National Guard units within the region. It is worth around $18.3 million and can handle up to 450 pieces of equipment. The return of the facility brings sixteen mechanics with it as well.

Lieutenant Colonel Aaron Hepner said, “We had a maintenance shop here, several years ago. We shut that down and moved operations.”

The return of the facility also brings sixteen mechanics with it. It also hosts services for its workers, including a gymnasium

“They can pass all the military requirements that are given to us by the National Guard and big armies,” said First Sergeant Joseph Seiders.

The building is located behind the Army National Guard armory.
