Students and educators are trying to change realities in the education system by bringing attention to the rising relationship between physics and democratic rights.
Illinois Wesleyan University Physics professor Gabriel Spalding and former Illinois State University professor Robert Bradley spoke at ISU’s Alumni Center yesterday afternoon.
“If we don’t educate people then we will no longer be a roll model for democracy. We will no longer be a learning light for science.” Bradley said.
They offered a professional perspective on opportunity gaps and the importance of teachers shaping students’ formative learning years.
“The opportunity gaps aren’t just with students; they’re with high school teachers too,” said Spalding. “We wanted to support them and to find ways for them to learn from one another. We wanted to really celebrate them and amplify the good they can do in this world.”
Event attendees encourage people to help prevent and combat these problems by voting in upcoming elections this November.
