SOC Scholarship Winners

Several TV-10 students won Scholarships offered to School of Communication students, and given in honor of SOC alums.
Junior Carly Bickett won the Randy Salerno Memorial Scholarship.  Bickett is a TV Production major who has been a reporter/photographer/MMJ for TV-10, and also directs newscasts.  She is in the ISU Honors program. She has worked as a writer and performer on several comedy shows, at TV-10 and with other campus RSOs.
Her scholarship honors Randy Salerno, who graduated from ISU in 1985 and went on to be a reporter and anchor in Peoria; Albany, NY and then at WGN-TV and CBS2 Chicago.
Camberyn Kelley was awarded the Iola Stoops Juarez Scholarship, for her work at multiple ISU student media outlets.  She was a reporter/MMJ for TV-10 in Spring 2021, also on the News and Sports staff at WZND, and a student reporter and social media intern at WGLT radio.  She also produced a podcast with the Vidette “Platicas con Camberyn” which focus on Spanish language, culture and issues.  Iola Stoops Juarez was an excellent writer who was the first in her family to attend college.
The Martin Duffy Scholarship went to junior Meghan Fortunato. She has completed a year of work at TV-10, as a reporter/MMJ and a producer/anchor of newscasts and a producer/host of the entertainment show Ten on 10.  The Journalism major also is part of the Vidette staff, working as a features reporter.
Marty Duffy was a leading public relations and marketing consultant in the building industry and a Senior Communications Consultant at USG.
The winner of the Vicki Lynn Kelley Memorial Scholarship was junior Maritza Navar-Lopez. She was a producer/anchor at TV-10 in the spring as well as the News and Sports Operations Director at WZND radio.  She and her staff have won numerous awards, especially for their long-form show The Birds’ Eye View.  Vicki Lynn Kelley was a radio anchor for the Associated Press and CBS News.
