Pedestrians and traffic will continue to be impacted by road closures surrounding Illinois State University.
In an effort to keep pedestrians safe, closures between School street, Mulberry street, and College avenue have been extended.
“Originally we had intended on keeping that up for the fall semester and then taking it down,” Adam McCrary said. “The town of Normal approached us after working with their consultant and asked us to collect more data with regards to that intersection, how it’s being used, and to get some more feedback from the community.”
The closure began in August as a part of the quick-build pilot projects.
“I think having a road closure around this time, especially when it’s cold out and whatnot,” Jade Henson said. “It’ll cause a lot more traffic than what already is around the school.”
The closure is set to only remain through the end of the academic year.
