The Town of Normal partnered with CM Promotions, incurring that the town would receive no profits from the store.
Communications and Community Relation Director Cathy Oloffson spoke on what website visitors can expect.
“We selected things that we thought people would appreciate on a road trip. So, you’ll see things in the store, not only apparel items, but travel mugs, picnic blankets, coolers that people can use in their cars because that’s what Route 66 is all about adventure on the road,” Oloffson said.
There are many other centennial celebrations taking place throughout the summer. A retro roadside picnic is planned for June 7 from noon to 4 p.m.
Oloffson shared what attendees can expect at the 1950’s themed picnic.
“You can expect vintage vibes, picnic fare, music, yard games. We’ll also be featuring the town’s sculpture garden. We should have pieces of art installed in the sculpture art and by that time,” Oloffson said.
