Two Headed to PAR

Two recent TV-10 graduates have been accepted into the Public Affairs Reporting program at the University of Illinois-Springfield.  Grace Barbic and Ali Rasper will start the 10-month graduate program in August.  They will take courses in budgeting, administration, history and politics related to state and local governments. And in the Spring, they will each complete an internship with a Springfield-based news agency.
Grace and Ali both spent 4 semesters at TV-10 and also worked at the Vidette, where Grace was a news editor and Ali was a photo editor.  Grace was also on the news/sports staff at WZND, and covered stories for the Peoria Journal-Star. She won the first Les Vann Scholarship in Spring 2020.  Ali focused more on sports, and won an award for her story on a young girl “adopted” by the ISU Softball Team. She was a member of ISU’s competitive cheer squad.
Together, they produced and hosted Good Afternoon Blono in Spring 2020, which won Second Place in the Outstanding Soft Program category of the Student-Illinois News Broadcasters Association awards.
