Today marks day 15 of AFSCME workers going on strike against Illinois State University for fair pay.

The strikers do not show signs of quitting before a new deal is agreed upon as the third week begins.

AFSCME filed a lawsuit saying ISU is violating the 2004 Employment of Strike Breakers Act after the university brought in strike breakers to work on campus.

AFSCME Council 31 Executive Director Roberta Lynch says ISU refuses to negotiate, instead they are breaking the law, the university should return to the bargaining table and seek an end to this conflict.

Striking workers and supporting members of the faculty union marched outside the Bone Student Center.

AFSCME striker Lisa Conrad explains what the union wants from ISU, “Wanting retro pay and the me claus, we’re not asking for much so we just don’t know why they won’t come to the table.”

The goal for the march is to continue bringing awareness to the workers and what their goal in striking is.

Conrad says the workers wish to help the students again, “The goal is to come to an agreement so that we can get back to work to take care of our students, we miss taking care of our students but we can’t do it for free.”

TV-10 has reached out to the university for a comment on the current situation but have not heard a response.
