Illinois State’s Students Ending Rape Culture held their annual Take Back the Night event last week.
Student Lux Weisheit explained the importance of creating posters to hold during the walk.
“I think it’s really important to be able to create our posters,” Lux said, “because they can oftentimes represent our voice when we can’t be heard”.
Students got to come together and create their own posters expressing themselves, their feelings and what they think needs change around campus.
Faculty member and co-president of Queer Coalition Karmine Beecroft discussed how walks like this impact the community.
Beecroft said it “allows people who have been affected by these issues to be in community with each other and show solidarity”.
