TV-10 students are now benefiting from scholarships established by gracious alums.
Arles Hendershott Love ’79 and Les Vann ’77 both donated in 2019, after TV-10’s 45th Anniversary Reunion. Their gifts each provide $1000 to be awarded each year for the next five years.
Hendershott Love is a strong voice for women in leadership. When she was named News Director of WIFR-TV, Rockford in 1986, only five percent of the TV News Directors in the country were female. She continued at WIFR in leadership roles until 2004. Since 2005, she has been Resource Development Director at Milestone, Inc., an agency that supports people with disabilities. She is also a strong advocate of community service, having worked with dozens of agencies and organizations, notably the American Heart Association and Crimestoppers. She’s received numerous awards for her service. She and husband Joe live in Rockford with their dog Keanu.
Les Vann ’76 is retired from a long career as a TV executive, always rooted in journalism. He was General Manager for nine television stations and in 2015 Broadcasting & Cable magazine named him General Manager of the Year. For the first 20 years of his career, he was at WICS-TV in Springfield, which is his hometown. His community service includes work with several nonprofit agencies and youth sports. He lives in North Carolina with wife Shannon and has two sons and one granddaughter.
